Raise the Roof

Today was a day that made me think that perhaps summer isn't gone yet (ie, a tease). Since the sun was out, we made hay.

I sanded the "the wall" - first using the special, expensive sander made specifically for sanding siding, and then the trusty ol' Craftsman orbital sander once I realized that the other wasn't doing a darn thing. In preparation for the rainy day just around the corner, Mike raised the posts and bolted on the supports for our new front porch.

I'm An Ed Head

Last night we went to the Bagdad Theater to see/listen to Ed Schultz speak "live from the left". He's traveling the country on a "Voices of America" tour putting on town hall meetings - a forum for folks to let their voice be heard. The show that we attended will be broadcast on Monday (KPOJ AM620 in Portland). Mike's a big fan of Ed, but this was my first time listening to him. I thought it was great - great to hear people speak up, and great that they had a chance to do so. And I'll tell ya, Ed's got a lot of charisma.

Baby steps

House Progress Update! It may not look like much, but it's come a long way, baby. I'm almost ready to begin sanding the South wall, and Mike is prepped to put the final pieces of siding on the front of the house. He's also got the plans worked out, and the ledger board up, for the front porch roof. Anybody feel like helping caulk, sand and paint? Give me a call!

Lovely Ladies

Last Friday my colleagues and I had a photo shoot for our website. We haven't decided which shot we'll use on our site (www.andersonkrygier.com), but I thought I'd post my favorite here. We call this the "Sex and the City" shot.

Mike Daisey

On Friday night I went to see Mike Daisey perform his latest monologue at the Winningstad Theater as part of the TBA Festival. It was fabulous! His latest is entitled "If You See Something, Say Something". It covers Homeland Security, atomic bombs, neutron bombs and "America's kryptonite". As I understand it, his show will be at the Public Theaster this Fall in New York. If you have the chance, check it out. Or see if he'll be touring in your area soon.

Prior Life

I just love this idea! If your company, or a client, uses any vinyl banners, turn them on to this idea.

Surf This

Mike and I took the veggie-mobile out to Pacific City this morning to do a little surfing. The waves were a little more than I could handle, so after getting tumbled around (catching only 2 waves where I didn't end up head over heels), I spent some time with the Flip video camera filming Mike on his longboard and whatever else caught my eye.

A 3-year old eats ice cream cake

Nephew Aidan is now 5 and a half, but since I just got my new flip video camera I have been inspired to pull together some movies. So despite being over two years ago, this one is for Aidan - I hope he likes the music I chose (he's picky about music). Don't show it to your dad though, you know how he hates it when you have sugar.

From the Woodwork

Well, will wonders never cease? A few days ago I created a profile on facebook at the request of my sister-in-law as a forum to exchange photos. Within days I was contacted by two long, lost friends... what a kick to hear from them both. Jen and I met on my first day of college, as she led us fearful little freshmen to dinner. And Colleen and I met shortly after that during a Montana summer of waitressing, hiking and generally amusing ourselves in the woods.
I've posted a couple of photos of those old times, just for giggles.
